Welcome to the Nippersink Public Library District!
How to get a library card?
Even though almost all Richmond & Spring Grove residents are eligible for a library card, some places in town require a Fox Lake Library or non-resident card (living outside any library district). Check this map to be sure, or if you are on the border, check your property tax bill for your library district to be 100% sure.
Identification and proof of residency are required to register for a card. Identification and proof of residency may be provided with a photo ID showing a current address. If a photo ID is unavailable, two forms of ID showing identity and proof of residency are required. A person who does not live within the boundaries of the library district, but owns property within the library district, is eligible for a library card upon presentation of a property tax bill showing the address of such property.
A parent or guardian must provide proof of residency and sign the registration form for a library card user under the age of 18. The minimum age for getting a library card is 5 years of age. The parent or guardian is responsible for all materials borrowed on the child’s card.
Renewal and Change of Information
A library card is valid for two years and may be renewed with proof of residency. The borrower is responsible for informing the library in the event of changes in name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.
Cost
An NPLD library card is free for in-district residents. There is a fee of $256.97 for non-resident cards.
Patrons should inform the library as soon as possible in the event of a lost or stolen card. Lost or damaged library cards may be replaced for a payment of $1.00.
Cardholders will have their borrowing privileges and computer use suspended if they have a total of $25 or more in fines and fees. Once a juvenile card holder turns 18, their status will be changed to adult borrower and they will be responsible for any fines and fees accrued on their card.
